I’m pretty sure it doesn’t count that I have lived most of my adult life – since graduating from the decidedly flat lands of a New York City university – in the mountains. There is still hope, a slim thread, that I pray to with all my being. It is hard to believe. Hard to fathom. I sat next to a young woman who talked about the ache in her heart. She wore red.
