There’s a warm rain outside now, cleaning up all the snow. I took my last ski through the woods today, smooshing off soft slabs of snow edging little rivers. Now I’m boiling maple sap – 40 gallons to make a gallon of syrup – and making sap soda and vinegar. And cleaning every cabinet and nook. I’m abashed by the stacks of plastic bags I have – and no idea what to do with them. I envision the plastic island in the Pacific ocean – this is my contribution. I put them near the recycle pile, hopeful, wondering what is their use?
April – and still a fire going inside the parlor, and out in the sugar house. Rain, fall on. Spring arrives!
