Lauren K Walker is a writer based in New England.

She is currently working on a memoir about the business of yoga as well as finishing a historical fiction novel about Russian immigrants to New England at the turn of the last century.  Her musical, SLaM, is in development for a regional theater try-out next fall.

She grew up in a triple-decker in industrialized Worcester, Massachusetts.  She earned a degree in English and Creative Writing from New York University under the mentorship of Ann Hood at the Gallatin division of NYU. While still in college attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference.

Since leaving New York City she has lived in New Zealand, Ecuador, British Columbia, The Yukon, Montana, Mexico, Maine, Vermont, Colorado and Sweden.

She has worked as a waitress, bartender, welder, snowboard instructor, baker, goatherder, trapper, yoga instructor, theater director, rock picker, horse trainer and musician.

Her hobbies include playing ice hockey, kayaking, skiing, hiking, swimming, bow-making and hammock swinging.

Lauren recently directed her first Broadway-style musical.  Based on a true story, she wrote the book and lyrics and co-wrote the music with Nancy Taube.

SLaM: The Hockey Rock Opera ran at City Hall Performing Arts Center in Montpelier, Vermont in October 2010.
