Building a Yoga practice

-The foundation of the yoga practice is understanding avidya. Avidya means incorrect comprehension.  We interpret the things around us through our ego, attachment and fear instead of through the clarity of a clear mind.  Every yoga practice is designed to help clear the mind.

-Next, get on your mat.  Asana, the physical postures and pranayama, the breathing practices, are designed to help get rid of blocks and impurities in the system.  Start where you are, join your breath to your movement, and stay committed.  How inflexible or out of shape you are doesn’t matter.  You must simply begin, and the process will unfold.

-Pay attention. Stay committed. Surrender.
